Ross has always been a builder, creator, and problem solver. Growing up in New Zealand, he learned boatbuilding and drafting from his father, setting the foundation for a lifelong passion for craftsmanship. In the 1980s, he made Australia home, working across various trades—from painting and carpentry to drain laying and concrete pumping stations. But his heart was always in boats.
Determined to sail his own creation, Ross built a 29-foot Catamaran, learning from a boat builder along the way. That adventure led to an even bigger project—a 47-foot Catamaran launched in 1999, which took him across the Pacific to New Caledonia, Vanuatu, and New Zealand.
Over the years, his love for timberwork never faded. Whether building furniture, guitars, or custom speakers, Ross has always been drawn to the warmth and beauty of wood. His experience at Allan Tongs Boatbuilders in Auckland further refined his skills, leading to years of independent boatbuilding and home renovations alongside his wife.
A lifelong music lover, Ross has spent decades chasing the perfect sound. That passion, combined with his expertise in woodworking, led to the birth of Pelham Custom Loudspeakers. After extensive research, he realized even the most expensive speakers often lacked solid timber construction and premium finishes. So, he set out to create something different—high-end loudspeakers crafted from quality materials, designed to deliver superior sound and timeless beauty.
