Handcrafted Sound. Distinctive Design.
The Alchemy I – Merbau by Pelham Custom Loudspeakers (PCL) brings together traditional timber craftsmanship and innovative acoustic engineering in a distinctive pair of Australian-made stand-mount loudspeakers.
Each pair requires more than 110 hours of skilled workmanship, combining solid Merbau hardwood, stone-coloured leather and rose gold-coloured aluminium detailing. The result is a loudspeaker designed to be as visually captivating as it is rewarding to listen to.
Crafted with Purpose
Alchemy I cabinets are constructed from solid Merbau timber, reinforced and epoxy-impregnated for strength and resonance control.
Rounded cabinet corners, carefully engineered internal structures and substantial cabinet construction contribute to the speakers’ acoustic performance.
The 320 × 600 mm baffles complement an internal folded-horn/tapered transmission-line arrangement incorporating sealed MDF sections and heavy felt lining.
Every material and design element has been selected with both acoustic performance and enduring craftsmanship in mind.
Innovative Acoustic Engineering
At the heart of Alchemy I is a distinctive folded-horn/tapered transmission-line design, developed to deliver clarity, detail and an engaging listening experience.
One of the speakers’ most recognisable features is the F-shaped sound vent, inspired by the traditional sound holes found in stringed instruments.
PCL selected this unusual vent geometry after exploring how opening shape and perimeter influence air movement. Its distinctive form is an integral part of the cabinet design and gives Alchemy I its unmistakable visual character.
Sound Worth Listening To
Featuring carefully selected Markaudio drivers, Alchemy I is designed for detailed full-range reproduction and enjoyable listening across a variety of musical genres.
With a rated power handling of 50 watts continuous and 100 watts maximum, these passive loudspeakers are suited to compatible external amplifiers within the recommended 30–100 watt range.
To help ensure your loudspeakers are ready to enjoy, PCL completes a 100-hour driver break-in process before delivery.
Individually Made to Order
Every pair of Alchemy I loudspeakers is handcrafted to order.
PCL offers selected hardwoods, including Merbau, Oak and Kauri, subject to availability. Leather finishes may also be customised in a range of colours to complement your interior and personal preferences.
